Esports is a demonstration sport at the 18th Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games 2018 this August. The competition, co-organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF) and the Indonesia Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC), will feature six events.

As our esport demonstration event at the 18th Asian Games draws to a close, I would like to thank everyone involved in making this a reality.

It truly was a dream come true and I hope that sports fans across Asia and the globe enjoyed the seven days of spectacular competition involving dedicated esports athletes from all around the region.

I would like to congratulate to all athletes - those who have excelled in their respective competition, as well applaud those who participated. Together we made history here in Jakarta. While not all of us were able to walk home with medals, we left this arena as winners in our own right.

A special thanks to the OCA, INASCOG and of course NOCs for believing in AESF. Your support ensured our vision didn’t just remain a pipe dream.

I would also like to thank the IeSPA for according us the support and help we needed, and not forgetting the people of Indonesia and this great city of Jakarta for being our most gracious host. I hope by hosting these events here, we succeeded in leaving a lasting legacy, a step closer in boosting the burgeoning esport in this country and the region as a whole.

I look forward to working with all national federations to promote esports in years to come - we are just getting started.
