13 September 2024, Beijing, China – Mr. Kenneth Fok, President of the Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF), delivered a keynote speech on “The Future of Digital Sports, Technology, and Innovation in Sports Services and Trade” at the Sports Services Trade Development Conference during the China International Fair for Trade in Services in Beijing, China. The event hosted 300 guests, including Chinese government officials, foreign diplomats, and representatives from international organizations.
In his speech, Mr. Fok discussed the growth of electronic and digital sports, the role of AI and technology in sports, digital transformation, and innovation in media and commerce. He emphasized how the development of electronic and digital sports contributes to economic growth, job creation, investment, and innovation. It integrates with traditional sports, enhancing fan engagement, promoting culture and tourism, and positioning host cities as global innovation hubs.
Mr. Fok highlighted that the launch of the World Digital & Technology Sports Alliance (WDSA) by AESF last year has initiated global industry integration and supported the growth of digital sports through forums, exhibitions, events, and standardization. AESF will continue to lead the development of electronic and digital sports in Asia and beyond, promoting inclusivity and sustainability in international competitions. Furthermore, AESF will continue to explore cooperation with the Beijing Municipal Government and key stakeholders to help position Beijing as a leading international hub for digital and technological innovation through major global programs and competitions.
AESF Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Steve Kim, spoke on “Exploring the World of Esports” at the Digital Sports Development Forum. He emphasized the importance of technological integration in esports, including AI-driven games and accessible interfaces that make esports more inclusive for all ages. AESF is collaborating with partners on these innovations to improve the mental health and well-being of older adults by encouraging engagement, combating loneliness, and strengthening intergenerational connections. AESF is also committed to continuing the promotion of esports education in universities by incorporating it into curricula to enhance digital literacy, strategic thinking, and teamwork, with plans to expand this initiative into school programs in the future.
Subsequently, AESF signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Asia Digital Group (ADG) establishing a strategic partnership. ADG is a leading international organization specializing in market research, international exchange, exhibitions and conferences, startup incubation, and media integration services. The MoU was signed by AESF Director General, Mr. Sebastian Lau, and ADG’s Regional President, Ms. Min Chi. This strategic partnership encompasses areas such as esports events, industry promotion, and investments, leveraging each party’s strengths to engage in comprehensive business development collaboration.
