AESF and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Establish Partnership for Inaugural China-ASEAN Esports Competition

20 May 2024, Nanning, China – The Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF) recently established a strategic partnership with the Big Data Development Bureau of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, People’s Republic of China, in Nanning, China. The two parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Mr. Sebastian Lau, AESF Director General, and Mr. Chang Liang, Vice President of the Big Data Development Bureau of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, People’s Republic of China.

The primary focus of the MoU is to foster cooperation in hosting the inaugural China-ASEAN Esports Competition scheduled to be held in Nanning, China. This landmark event will bring together national teams from Southeast Asia, China, and a few other Asian countries to compete in this electrifying Esports event.

 

The cooperative effort between AESF and the Big Data Development Bureau will encompass various facets of event organization and coordination. This includes, but is not limited to, competition planning and organization, venue selection, game title licensing, international technical officials, team invitations, as well as comprehensive team services for participating teams.

 

As part of this collaboration, both parties are committed to engaging in comprehensive exchanges and collaboration, ensuring the seamless execution of the China-ASEAN Esports Competition. By leveraging their collective expertise and resources, both parties aim to elevate the stature of Esports in the region while fostering greater cultural exchange and camaraderie among participating nations.

 

Mr. Sebastian Lau, AESF Director General, stated, “Through this partnership, we're not just building a competition; we're forging connections between countries and relevant industries, further strengthening relations between China and ASEAN and their counterparts, fostering unity, and utilizing Esports to develop more exchange and collaboration opportunities in the concerned regions and beyond. The AESF is pleased to be part of this historic moment in Esports history and to contribute to China-ASEAN relations, as well as looking forward to showcasing the best examples of Esports values and fostering stronger bonds among nations through this groundbreaking competition.”
