The Esports Federation of India (ESFI), an AESF member association, will host the inaugural WAVES Esports Championship (WESC 2025) in February 2025, in New Delhi, India. Supported by India's Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, WESC 2025 will feature competitions across multiple titles, including eFootball, World Cricket Championship (WCC), and Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI). Qualifiers will run from September 2024 to January 2025, with the grand finale in February 2025 crowning India's top players.
WESC 2025 is gender-inclusive, featuring phases of electrifying gameplay across India. BGMI will see team-based competition, while eFootball and WCC will host individual events. ESFI, a leader in promoting competitive gaming in India and a key player in India's participation in the 2018 and 2022 Asian Games, is committed to elevating India's esports presence globally.
Vinod Tiwari, President of ESFI, said, "India’s esports scene is rapidly evolving, and WAVES is crucial for its growth. WESC 2025 will not only showcase top talent but foster excellence, content creation, and innovation in esports."
The recently unveiled WESC 2025 logo, in vibrant Ocean Blue, symbolizes the depth and vitality of the esports community. Lokesh Suji, Director of ESFI & VP of AESF, said, "The logo embodies the spirit of our community, with Ocean Blue reflecting trust, inspiration, imagination, confidence, reliability, freedom, and faith. The logo aims to inspire youth and empower future generations to lead the industry. WESC 2025 is a movement to elevate esports in India, fostering competitiveness, community, and a 'Nation First' mindset." Suji also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and MoS MIB Shri Ashwini Vaishnav for their support.
Beyond esports, WAVES will feature game development challenges, AI-driven installations, and other events showcasing India’s creative potential.
