Kenneth Fok, who is currently the Vice-President of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong and also a Member of the International Relations Committee of the Olympic Council of Asia, replaces Kazakhstan’s Natalya Sipovich, who announced her resignation during an AESF Executive Board meeting held during the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.

Mrs Natalya had served as AESF President for a decade and oversaw the successful inclusion of electronic sports into the AIMAG from 2013.

"It has been my great honour to serve as President, but after 10 years I think it is time for a younger person to take over because this is a sport that really belongs to younger people," she said.

Kenneth Fok, who holds a Degree in Economics and Management from Oxford University, was elected unopposed as the new AESF President.

He paid tribute to Mrs Sipovich, describing the outgoing AESF leader as a "trailblazer", and vowing to build on her legacy.

"This is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, especially in Asia, and we plan to take the sport to new heights," he said.

"These are exciting times because technology is changing so quickly, so it’s important that we work with our partners and expand our scope beyond today." 

The AESF meeting also saw the appointment of five Vice-Presidents, one from each of the five Asian regions:

• West Asia – Sheikh Abdullah Faleh Al Thani from Qatar
• Central Asia – Mr. Saken Mussaibekov from Kazakhstan
• South Asia – Lokesh Suji from India
• ASEAN – Dr. Tran Van Manh from Vietnam
• East – the position will be allocated to China and to be confirmed later through its NOC
