The Asian Games 2022 League of Legends Finals: No Faker No Problem

30 SEP 23

In the world of Esports, legends are born, and rivalries are etched into history. The Asian Games 2022 League of Legends finals brought back memories of an epic 2 years prior.

In the 2018 Asian Games when Esports first emerged as a demonstration event, the League of Legends finals witnessed an intense showdown between China and Republic of Korea, with China emerging victorious. It was a moment that resonated with Esports enthusiasts worldwide, highlighting the growing significance of competitive gaming.

At the 2022 Asian Games, with an official medal on the line, the Semifinals brought the two Esports giants back into the spotlight. The clash between these titans had an over 4000-seat arena packed to the brim with fans. In a hard-fought battle, Republic of Korea went on to secure their spot in the Finals.

However, it was not the end of the journey for China as they met and defeated team Viet Nam to win the Bronze medal.

Team Korea, led by of 27-year-old Korean sensation Lee Sang-hyeok, also known to fans as "Faker," boasts an illustrious gaming legacy. Faker, a household name in Korea is a colossal figure on the global Esports stage.

However, Faker's absence was noticeable in both the Semifinal and Quarterfinal matches. In his stead, his teammates Choi Woo-je, Seo Jin-hyeok, Park Jae-hyeok, Ryu Min-seok, and Jung Ji-hun admirably carried the baton forward.

In the absence of Faker, Republic of Korea's victory over Chinese Taipei in the Finals was a testament to the resilience and depth of talent in their Esports scene. On the podium, they didn't just claim gold; they reaffirmed their status as a powerhouse in the world of League of Legends.

The Asian Games 2022 League of Legends finals showcased the ever-evolving nature of Esports, where greatness knows no bounds, and legends are made with every click of the mouse and press of the keyboard. It was a triumph that will be remembered for years to come.
